She Never Sleeps by ichabod1799 She Never Sleeps by ichabod1799
Update February 2015 - Gotten a higher quality photo and restored to close as possible original colours. It's been a bit of a battle with colour issues between mac and windows and worried it might be a bit washed out. Tried my best to get those greys back into the Tv.

Still trying my best to get the colours right across both mac and PC it's rather annoying. Everything on the mac is much more darker and higher contrast so bare with me.

So prints of this are available here and on my Society 6 store. society6.com/product/she-never…

"Oh C'mon. Cindy the news is on! Another little white girl gone fell down a well..."

I'm so glad this is finished. It was kinda a nightmare to paint. Back to old traditional acrylics. Went through four canvases at first when I started this, had a bad day and built up too much paint and ruined it trying to strip the paint back, then I just got really sick on weeks. Eventually when it was flowing really well it had to be on the warped canvas.

This is for an upcoming Horror fanart exhibition. It's from the movie The Ring of course which I would have to say is my most favourite horror franchise.

I made a couple of subtle changes after taking this photo but didn't have time to take a new one before I varnished it and wrapped it up, and had to pack my studio up.

I was also going to do a second piece for the exhibition but after the dramas and sickness I ran out of time so just focused on doing one really good one.

This is an incredible piece:heart: You really captured the creepiness of the movie. I especially like the way you did the water on the floor.

This is absolutely amazing. I love The Ring and I love your previous deviations, so the epic levels are off the charts right now.

The painting is great!
The thing that strikes me more than anything else is the water. It looks super-duper real! Sharp contrast and cool colors create such a scary atmosphere! It’s obvious that you worked very carefully at the picture. You must have spent a lot of time painting in detail the floor and the background landscape.
Just perfect!
I watched this movie for the first time when I was 17 or 18. I was grown-up but it seemed the creepiest movie I had ever seen. I was scared to stay alone at night for about a week. Later my friends invited me to watch it together and I alleged desperate busyness – I was ashamed to admit I was terrified to death:)
Last summer I watched it once again with my elder nephew and it seemed scary within reasonable limits. Maybe that’s because I watched it in company.

Thanks - I don't know exactly how long it took. I just worked on it bit by bit, day by day whenever I had a free moment/day. Then I would not look at it for days then come back to refine it more. I think in total to finished varnishing about 3 weeks.

Yeah I was about 15 when I first saw this film. My brother and his friends came home with it on DVD and I was all ready watching the TV and didn't want to watch it thought it'd be too scary for me but I couldn't be bothered getting off the couch so I put up with it. I had all ready seen a parody of it before hand (Scary Movie 3) so I think that soften it a lot for me I knew what to expect, I remember noting being that scared by it but actually captivated at how well it was directed and the characters and the story. I was sitting on the edge of my seat while my brother and his friends were hiding being the couch.

When you mentioned Scary Movie 3 I thought of the woman combing her long armpit hair. My nephew watched it first too, so the Ring didn’t scare him that much. I was surprised when he started laughing hysterically at times. And I was a bit disappointed because I hoped he would be scared out of his mind:) He was 12 at the time.
The most frightening moments to me (as well as for others, I guess) were the faces of the victims.
And yes, the movie is very well-shot. Scary movie scripts usually leave much to be desired. The characters are unbearably plain and faceless and the story is kind of primitive. The Ring is an exception to the rule. That’s why people consider it incredibly scary.

Yeah, I love The Ring... but people don't post much about it. And that picture is cool! :D
